Apple Spice Smoothie
I love smoothies! For me, they are one of the most efficient ways to sneak more vegetables into my diet. They can also be unpredictably filling and are a great way to make sure I don't miss a meal when my schedule is packed! Yay for quick nutrients!
Because smoothies can be so refreshing, I typically relate them to spring and summertime. However, it is Fall (YAY!!!!) and I’m not willing to put my smoothie experiments on hold for the next few months! Lately, I've been trying to come up with a recipe that will fit this wonderfully, cozy season. Now, when I say experiments, that is EXACTLY what I mean. I've made some incredibly delicious smoothies (of which I'll gladly share) and I've made some completely inedible smoothies (don't worry, I'll spare you). It is always a learning experience and I have to say this Apple Spice Smoothie is one of my most delicious ones yet!
I was really looking forward to begin using all the fall spices (cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, and allspice) in order to add some warmth to this recipe! Usually, I try to sneak vegetables into my smoothies, but I was feeling a bit indulgent with this one and went a more decadent route. I prefer to think of this as an all-natural, healthy treat! It includes vitamins and minerals, such as C, B6, Manganese, and Potassium (which helps support the growth/repair of tissues, bone health, energy production, blood sugar control, immune system, and kidney health).
Not only do the spices Cinnamon, Clove, Allspice, and Nutmeg add wonderful flavor to this smoothie, but they also contain antioxidants and can help reduce inflammation and aid in digestion! As if I needed more reasons to use these spices!
And voilà! It really doesn't get much simpler than that!
