As they say, the fifth time's the charm, or at least it was in regards to these donuts. Back in January, I attempted four variations of baked donuts in hopes of at least one of them being a delectable item on the Galentine's Day Brunch menu. To my dismay, they were a massive failure and an unfortunate tease for my taste testers. Luckily, you can't taste a photo! Because they were far from edible, they shifted in their dual role from actual food to food prop in the photoshoot.

I took a brief donut-making hiatus, licked my wounds, and decided to give it one final try, hoping to not waste yet another batch of ingredients. And finally, the stars aligned! This recipe is not only extremely palatable, it's also really easy to make. So much so, that I'm considering hosting a brunch with friends ASAP, so I can bake them again in an attempt to redeem my reputation!

If I had to pick between sweet and salty, I'd choose sweet every time. I love sweets, and am not above eating dessert first. After all, life is short and that's at least one perk of being an adult. However, I'm not overly fond of how the majority of sweet treats make me feel after the fact. Therein lies the art of moderation, or in this case, adaptation.

My goal was to make donuts that were delicious without being overly sweet, so I could enjoy the entire experience. And if I so much as hear the words cinnamon and Chai used in the same sentence, my mouth immediately starts watering. I love those flavors in just about any form or function. As I considered potential donut flavors, these two were firmly positioned at the top of my list!

Waking up slowly on Saturday morning to the aromas of fresh coffee, cinnamon, and chai sounds heavenly to me. And since these donuts are best eaten the same day you make them, I felt it was necessary to make sure they require as little effort as possible. I highly recommend making sure you have all the necessary ingredients, and then plan to spend a relaxing Saturday morning sipping on a big cup of coffee and enjoying these cinnamon chai donuts!

I hope you enjoy these as much as I did! This recipe should make about 12-14 donuts, so be sure to share the love, or divide it in half if you wish! Each donut (including the glaze) is approximately 250kcal.
