I'm a runner. Not necessarily a fast one, but I run pretty regularly. I enjoy the mental break, as well as the rush of endorphins I get after a good 30 minutes of "pounding the pavement" and usually, I prefer running outside! There is something so wonderful about being surrounded by nature and soaking up as much of the views and vitamin D as possible, all while getting a little exercise in! However, as much as I like to be outdoors even in the winter, I do have my limits. For the past few days, it's been pretty darn cold here in Nashville! And even though I have stocked up on cold weather workout gear, there are some temperatures that I refuse to put myself in (ahem.. anything below freezing).

Having an indoor option is necessary for me to keep up my running routine! Luckily, I don't totally hate treadmills. I've logged quite a few miles on them and I'm really thankful for them on days when the weather refuses to cooperate. However, if I can't keep my treadmill workout interesting, I have a much more difficult time getting through it, let alone enjoying it.

So, if you're like me and tend to be a little fair-weathered in the colder/wetter months, and need some creativity when it comes to the "dreadmills", then I have a solution! Below is one of my favorite ways to mix in running intervals with body weight exercises. This workout will help you improve your cardio levels, increase your muscular strength, and build overall endurance! It should take around 30 minutes to complete if you're moving quickly. If you are wanting to push yourself further, go through it twice!

Note: The sprints 30:30 ratio means run/sprint for 30 seconds and then walk/rest for 30 seconds. Repeat 4 times!
