Monthly Mantra: Hope
I'm at a loss for words about the horrible tragedy that took place in Orlando this past weekend. My heart hurts for all who were involved and affected, and they will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. Hate is an ugly poison that causes nothing but destruction and pain. Events like this can make it really hard to find hope amongst the despair. But I choose to believe it's there. By definition, hope is the desire or expectation for a certain thing to come to fruition. I've really been thinking about hope over the past few days. You see, I'm a recovering cynic. I used to believe that if I didn't hope for something, then I wouldn't experience disappointment. Locking up my heart, avoiding vulnerability, and attempting to control things in my life was my way of handling things. C.S. Lewis said it best:
“To love at all is to be vulnerable. Love anything and your heart will be wrung and possibly broken. If you want to make sure of keeping it intact you must give it to no one, not even an animal. Wrap it carefully round with hobbies and little luxuries; avoid all entanglements. Lock it up safe in the casket or coffin of your selfishness. But in that casket, safe, dark, motionless, airless, it will change. It will not be broken; it will become unbreakable, impenetrable, irredeemable. To love is to be vulnerable.”
To love and to hope is to be vulnerable. By choosing not to be vulnerable and not to hope, I found I was less happy, less motivated, less intentional, and less likely to accomplish and experience some pretty incredible things. When we are expectant, we act differently. We prepare for whatever it is that we're hoping for. When we choose to look at the glass half full, we're more likely to take positive action and to show love and kindness to ourselves and others. We may not always have a choice in our circumstances, but we always have a choice in the way in which we walk through them.
So today, I choose to hope. I hope that we will all be brave enough to choose to act out of love for ourselves and for one another, no matter the differences.
From the moment I began my business, I knew I wanted it to be something that would serve people out of love. I have a passion for teaching people how to love themselves and create a life they're excited about living. It's a constant journey. One that I'm on as well. I love telling people they're not alone, that they're worthy of love, and how capable they are of doing amazing things with their lives. Learning how to love unconditionally and how to live a life full of grace, hope, and beauty alongside other people with the same pursuit makes me come alive!
Over the past few months, I've been fortunate enough to collaborate with two strong, like-minded women from A Branding Co. We've been dreaming, brainstorming, planning, and preparing to create a clear and authentic message for my business, so that I'm able serve others to the best of my ability. I am excited, afraid, motivated, nervous, passionate, ecstatic... I basically have all the feels! Tomorrow, we are temporarily shutting the website down so that we can get to work and breathe fresh, new life into this space. I am so excited and hopeful for what is to come. I hope to create a positive, authentic, and supportive community of people who are ready to find their passion for life. To teach people how to believe in themselves so they can break through self-sabotage cycles and achieve incredible goals. I have some really exciting things coming and I can't wait to share it all with you!
As of now, we are unsure of the exact date of the relaunch.
