My husband is a long-time client of Jen’s, and he encouraged me to start working with her about a year ago. I was experiencing some pretty serious life changes… my parents had both passed away after long illnesses, I was about to turn 50, and my youngest child was entering her senior year of high school. When my father passed away, I gained 30 pounds and was terrified that I would repeat this pattern as I processed the grief of losing my mother. I really needed someone to guide me and provide some order to my scattered thinking.
Jen has been a support system. She has been so patient in working with me to set goals, both long term and short term, physical and mental. Initially, I was fearful that she was going to want me to make a lot of big changes at once, and set goals that would be unattainable. Something that she has taught me over the past year is that it’s all about small, attainable goals that can be maintained over the long term. This is about a life change. Sometimes it’s three steps forward, two steps back, but that’s okay. You don’t quit just because you’ve not stuck to your plan perfectly!
After I started the process, I felt a little overwhelmed, but mostly hopeful and positive about being the best version of myself. I can honestly say that it is hard work, but it is worth it. Wellness coaching encourages me to take the time to look at all aspects of my life…mind, body, and spiritual. This world is so fast- paced, and coaching forces me to slow down, think about what really matters to me, and make a plan accordingly. Jen provides the focus I need to stop going in circles!
I am now more aware of what I’m eating, how much I’m eating, when and why I’m eating. The “why” is a big piece of the puzzle for me.
This process has helped me be a more positive person. Taking the time each week to sit down with Jen, see how I’ve done with goals, set new goals, really helps to set a positive tone for the week and has really made me realize that it’s okay to not be perfect in everything I do.
Through wellness coaching, Jen has helped me take the time to stop and think about how I AM living my life and the steps I need to take to achieve how I would LIKE to live my life on a day to day basis. She has helped me to be patient with the process and break it down into manageable steps. Change is possible, and it can be a slow process, but Jen keeps me motivated!
Jen has made such a difference in my life. I cannot imagine where I would be had I not sought her help. She is one of the most patient and understanding people. You can see that she loves making such a positive impact on people’s lives. She does not expect perfection, but encourages me each step of the way. She’s helped me learn that if I put the right food in my body, get enough rest, exercise in a way that I enjoy, drink water (yes, it’s an evil fact!), set goals, take the time to do things that fulfill me…all of these things lead to a happier life!
